Krav til forkunnskapar

Sufficient mastery of the English language is required. Students following Erasmus programs and media related study programs will be given priority. A primary admission list will be made within two weeks after the first application deadline. VUC reserves non-commercial user rights to work submitted during the course. This course has a limited capacity and a pre-booked Erasmus quote. The course admission will be continuous. Students in Bachelor of PR Communication, journalism, media production or animation with a minimum of 60 ects credits can apply to this course.

Om emnet

Editorial design is about constructing editorial content for a media production or event (magazin, exhibition, performance, presentation, application) with focus on both content and design. Depending on the individual choice of interpretation and visualisation of content, the result can contain visual elements like text, photos, illustrations, animations, movies or anything else that emphazises and communicates the chosen topic in the best way.

  • acquire extended skills in editorial planning, including aspects of journalistic research and design planning

  • have aquired an understanding of editorial design, its relation/response to research and its visual presentation that will help them to develop versatile knowledge for different target groups and customers
Praktisk organisering og arbeidsmåtar

The students will develop editorial design products based on group work. Lectures related to design, production planning and relevant software will be given during the course. By regulary scheduled meetings the students will receive continously feedback. The project will be based on research, interviews, photos, illustrations and own articles. A given topic will be the framework for the project.

Vilkår for å framstille seg til eksamen

The group work is to be presented in a final meeting to the entire class as part of the assessment process. The final hand-in document - a portfolio with two components - will contain the group´s visual work, and an individual learning reflection report, documenting the chosen strategy and arguing for the applied methods and steps:

Portfolio Component 1 [group work] contains the Final Editorial Work, counting 40% of ther final grade, while Portfolio Component 2 [individual] contains a Learning Reflection Report, counting 60% of the final grade.
Delivered as two separate files. A combined grade will be given.
