Media and Journalism

Volda University College has educated professionals for the Norwegian media industry since 1971 and is known both nationally and internationally as a leading school for practical media studies.

The Faculty of Media and Journalism has app. 500 students enrolled in the degree programmes offered:

The study programmes all focus on the combination of theory and practice, made possible by the many opportunities for practice both internal and external to the university college. VUC has close contacts with the media industry in Norway and abroad.

Although the study programmes are only offered in Norwegian, the Faculty of Media and Journalism has a great number of courses/modules offered in English for international students and partner with many leading media schools worldwide

Faculty management

Each department has its own administration and Department Head. The Dean is the academic and administrative leader of the faculty and represents the faculty in the VUC management group.

Faculty Board

The Faculty Board is an advisory committee answering to the dean and shall ensure dialogue between the faculty management, staff and students. The board may take initiative to discuss cases and also to request information from the faculty management. The leader of the Faculty Board is Hans Martin Dypvik og deputy is Ellen Lexerød Hovlid.
