In between deep fjords and high mountains, you will find the student town of Volda. With its 4500 students and 350 staff/faculty members, Volda University College is one of the largest institutions of higher education between Bergen and Trondheim. Volda is known for its active student environment, while the university college is best known for its top study programmes in media and journalism, as well as long traditions for teacher training education.

Volda and surroundings
Situated on the western coast of Norway, Volda is surrounded by mountains, forests and fjord. Volda is a charming town in the county of Møre og Romsdal, with around 10 000 inhabitants and a student body of approximately 4500 students.

During the semester opening ceremony at Volda University College, the Minister of Research and Higher Education, Henrik Asheim, encouraged every student to appreciate the privilege of being a student. Both in terms of the social and academic aspects.
