Travels and quarantine
- International travel is greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Restrictions on travel to/from Norway and requirements for quarantine upon arrival to Norway changes rapidly so we ask all students and staff to keep updated on the latest information from the Norwegian government
- Any job related travels are to be approved beforehand by Dean or Director
- FHIs (Norwegian Public Health Institute) guidelines for isolation and quarantine
Inbound student exchange spring 2021
VUC has decided to follow the recommendation from the Ministry of Education to open for student mobility and to treat in- and outbound exchange the same. Therefore, the VUC Crisis Board has decided to open for inbound exchange from EU/EEA countries. Inbound exchange from countries outside the EU/EEA area has been canceled.
The Norwegian government has on several occassions amended the Covid-19-regulations concerning travel to Norway. These regulations mean that most international students must present a negative test prior to arrival, to take further test after arrival, register in an online system and to quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel at the start of the stay. Check the website for the National Public Health Insitute (FHI) to find the latest updates:
Following the recommendation from the Ministry of Education, Volda University College will compensate the cost of quarantine hotel for new incoming exchange students. Please note that this only applies to new international students and not those who study at VUC in the autumn semester and choose to travel internationally during the Christmas holiday.
Students who are unsure about the regulations for quarantine hotel should check the website of the National Public Health insitute (FHI), but can also ask the VUC International Office and the Student Housing Services (SiVolda).
VUC strongly recommends all students travelling internationally to take advantage of the opportunity for free Covid-19 testing at the major airports, as well as, during the time spent at quarantine hotel.
Outbound student exchange autumn 2021
The further developments of the Covid-19 pandemic will determine whether international student exchange and placements will be allowed for the autumn semester of 2021. For the time being, the VUC International Office works with the assumption that it will be possible and has therefore opened for applications for student exchange for autumn 2021. Students, their family and/or VUC staff who have questions about outbound student exchange can contact the International Office (email@example.com).
Outbound student exchange spring 2021
In line with the recommendation from the Ministry of Education (KD) and following the majority of universities and colleges in Norway, Volda University College has chosen to open up for outgoing student exchange to partner universities in Europe. All exchanges to countries outside Europe have been canceled.
The development of the pandemic, as well as, regulations made by partner universities and/or governments in the relevant countries, may force us to cancel student mobility at a later time.
The VUC Crisis Board has decided to cancel all study trips, internships and fieldwork abroad in the spring semester of 2021.
