Volda University College is known for its lively academic and social environment and the surrounding nature provides plenty of opportunities for adventures from the fjord to the mountains.
The student house "Rokken" is at the centre of many of the events for students. Rokken arranges a series of social events such as conserts, theme parties, quizzes, open mic nights, live sport broadcastings and other cultural programmes. Most international students volunteer at Rokken, which gives you discounts or free access to most events!
The International Office runs the meeting place "Pangaia" for all students. Pangaia is located in the main building on campus and allows students to stop by for a chat, a cup of tea, or just to meet other international or Norwegian students.
Students at VUC can also choose to join a wide variety of student organizations such as Student TV, Student Radio, Newspaper, Magazine, sports, choir, orchestra and various other organizations.
Volda is also known as the venue for the annual X2 Extreme Sport Festival, and the Documentary Film Festival in the spring semester, and the Animation Festival in the autumn semester. These festivals sements VUC's reputation as a leading school for media studies and also brings international participants and attention to our college. Volunteering at a festival is a great way to make Norwegian friends!
