International office

Volda University College is working hard in order to develop its international engagement within student and teaching mobility through European and national cooperation programmes and bilateral agreements. Our students are highly motivated to study abroad, either by taking an integrated part of their study programme at our partner institutions throughout the world or by continuing their studies abroad after graduation from Volda. The international office at Volda University College works closely with its partner institutions and departments internally to ensure that students receive quality education in Norway and abroad.

The international office at VUC has two employees: Cecilie Wilhelmsen (head of the office and ERASMUS institutional coordinator) and Iulia Beleuta (international officer). In addition, each faculty has its own international coordinator, working 20% with internationalization, as follows: Mrs. Susan Lynn Erdman (Faculty of Humanities and Education), Mrs. Sissel Midtlid (Faculty of Arts and Physical Education), Mr. Thomas Lewe (Faculty of Media and Journalism) and Mrs. Nathalie Homlong (Faculty of Social Sciences and History. In addition assistant professor Kjell Holby is working part time for the international office.

International Club and Pangaia

The international club at Volda University College was born in the fall of 2005. The club arranges national themed nights, dance shows, mountain trips, movie nights, barbeques, Christmas parties etc. Although most of the meetings are being held at Rokken(external link) - the student house, we try as much as possible to introduce the international students to the environment, nature, museums in the area.

Pangaia is a social meeting point on the ground floor of Berte Kanutte Building, right across the canteen, in the middle of the campus. It is designed and intended to function as a home away from home for all those studying in Volda, whether they are internationals or Norwegians. A place where you can drop in to relax, make new friends, have a cup of tea or coffee, meet colleagues form around the world. In Pangaia you will also find different brochures, books, games to play etc.

The office is open from Monday to Friday, from 10:30  to 15:30 and as soon as you cross its open doors, you are greeted by the lovely smile of our trainee, Dunia Soriano Celma, from Spain. Working closely together, during the fall semester 2011 we have the ERASMUS practice student, Petr Stepaken, from Czech Republic.
